THE BUDAPEST FAIR BOUNCES BACK
Budapest, 24-28 November 2010

This year's newlook Budapest Art Fair, again staged in the elegant Műcsarnok Hall on Heroes Square, proved a tremendous success. Attendance was up by a staggering 30% to 9,000 visitors, as participating galleries reported vigorous sales in both Modern and Contemporary Art.

Fair owner Sandor Galambos was fully vindicated in his uncompromising efforts to relaunch the 16 year-old Fair after a 2009 edition held in the winter of an economic recession unparalleled since the fall of Hungary's hated Communist regime twenty years ago.
Mr Galambos made two decisions that proved crucial to this year's success – creating a separate Fair for furniture and antiques, ensuring that the Mücsarnok event was devoted to Fine Art only; and dramatically bolstering the Fair's international scope, by hosting a special section for galleries and artists of Central & Eastern Europe.

“Write its name on each thing you purchase or own.” - Vlado Martek
«The basic thought about existence of discource structure in which we live and which define
us. If a word of a discourse or writng possesses an affect, the kind we see in a hysteria or in
revolutions, then one should add to it a new meaning that exceeds the demands of utilitarian
comunication. The performative possesses its effect. Performative account is the account by
which a speaker expresses a certain action (of his own), and this action is completed with,
and caused by its expression. If we utilize Morris language theory, we can notice that
performative accounts include, aside from syntax and semantics, at least a segment of
pragmatic ordinance. »
