4TH BUSAN INTERNATIONAL VIDEO FESTIVAL
Busan, South Korea, 2007

Curated by "Space Bundee"

Located in Busan, Alternative Space Bandee is a non-profit art space. Organized by Bandee, the International Video Festival has the dual aims of expanding the field of video art and supporting video artists. It is a single-channel video art festival begun in 2004. During the past three festivals, only Korean artists were featured. In 2007, however, with the support of the city of Busan, the festival has expanded to include works by international artists.

Through a competition and by invitation, artists of various nationalities show where today’s video art is headed. The opening screening will include 11 Korean videos from the competition category, and 20 videos by overseas artists who were invited by an international team of commissioners. During the nine days of screeningsafter the opening, over 60 international pieces will be shown on the first floor of Alternative Space Bandee and the Project Space on the second floor.
Although the Busan Video Festival has a short history and was begun with a small budget, it has increased the public’s interest in video art, and encouraged video artists through this greater exposure. Through this festival, featuring both domestic and international videos, we will be able to experience various media pieces from different countries and with many different colors and flavors.

We thank international curator, Mathieu Marguerin, Caspar Stracke, Torsten Zenas Burns, Pierre Courtin, who made the selections of the overseas pieces and Jun-Seub Sim, Joon-Ho Jeon, Man-Seok Kim, who participated in the selection of the Korean videos. We deeply thank the artists who submitted their pieces, and we also thank many people who helped in the realization of this festival.
